Race 11 - 1½ Mile. Belmont-G1 BELMONT STAKES

2 CALIFORNIA CHROME Will CALIFORNIA CHROME win the triple crown?  In my very humble opinion, the answer is yes.  He is simply the absolute best of this year's 3 year old crop and nothing will stand in his way.  No horse or the 1 1/2 mile distance of the race, nor the short turnaround between races will "stay this courier from his appointed rounds".  He has now won six races in a row.  The last three were Grade I events and his race four back was a Grade II event.  He can race any way that is necessary to win whether it be going right to the front or laying back and pouncing on the leaders with his tremendous turn of foot when the moment arises.  Only time will tell as to who he is viewed with the great horses of the modern age but for now he is simply the best of the best.

5 RIDE ON CURLIN ran the race of his life last out finishing second in the Preakness.  The jockey change to Joel Rosario I'm sure had a great deal to do with that.  However, Joel Rosario has opted to ride Tonalist today and John Velazquez will ride him today.  He's still eligible for N2X allowance races as he has just 2 career wins and that lack of class will take it's toll going 12 furlongs.  Still, he will be closing from far back once again today but even if they were to go around the track one more time, there is no way that he is catching CALIFORNIA CHROME.

11 TONALIST looked very impressive winning the PETER PAN here on May 10th.  However, he has raced just four times in his career and has not faced the grizzled veterans of this triple crown series until today.  Joel Rosario has opted to stay aboard him today and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he puts in a huge effort this race.

9 WICKED STRONG - Wicked Strong hasn't raced since the Derby when he finished fourth.  He was the winner of the WOOD MEMORIAL in his previous race.  He's been pointed to the Belmont and has worked well leading up to it but I think that the Wood came up weak and he has the look of an also ran today.

10 GENERAL A ROD finished a decent 4th in the Preakness in a much improvedeffort from theDerby. However, i am now convinced that he is just a notch below the best of this crop.

7 SAMRAAT  has been very consistent his entire career but the New York bred is at least one notch below in this field.  Also, I do not think a mile and a half is in his wheelhouse.  He finished an OK fifth in the Preakness and he figures to be around the same place after today's race is run.

4 COMMANDING CURVE finished second in the Kentucky Derby at better than 37 - 1.  However, he has just a maiden win to his credit and will come back to earth today.  He's sure to be over played off of his last effort but I will be leaving him off of my ticket.

1 MEDAL COUNT finished eighth in the Derby.  He had a big five furlong work on May 24th and if any of the outsiders has a chance of surprising by hitting the board, I think he may have a good shot.  Still, I don't give this one a prayer.

8 COMMISSIONER finished second in the PETER PAN last out four lengths behind TONALIST.  He goes out for Todd Pletcher with Javier Castellano and to put it nicely, he is ambitiously placed.  He has just two wins and basically hasn't been with competitive in Graded company

6 MATUSZAK and 3 MATTERHORN simply do not belong in this race.  Both are complete tosses on any ticket.

This race is a "Cherry Pick". I will be betting $20 exactas: 2/5,9,11.
